Emerald coloured Tailored Stands alpaca handwoven scarf

Tailored Strands royal and ocean blue handwoven scarves

As summer arrives and I look out from my apartment  onto the lovely blues of the Swan River my mind turns to nautical colours.  I have taken the Royal Blue and Ocean Blue coloured yarns from the Tailored Strands range of 4-ply Australian Alpaca yarns and woven two, two-tone, coloured scarves in slightly different diamond shaped patterns.  These two scarves, nominally 1750mm x 220mm  and weighing 145g, may be a bit warm for summer but would be lovely presents for our northern hemisphere friends/tourists, or worthwhile keeping for our next winter cold days.

Another yarn from Bendigo

Last of the summer yarns, or at least, Bendigo Woollen Mills sock yarns (70% wool/30% nylon).  In the fourth, and last, yarn in the series I have used the purple green multi yarn as the warp and woven it with a dark grey woollen yarn as the weft.  A soft feeling, smart looking, scarf that would be worn proudly by the man in your life, provided you didn't keep it for yourself.  And being 1760mm x 185g weighing 107g it will fit snugly into your luggage ready for those cold days and nights.

Handwoven Bendigo Woollen Mills Ocean Purple Multi

Feeling blue?  I have the scarf for you!
I have used Bendigo Woollen Mills Ocean Purple Multi sock yarn, a 70% wool/30% nylon mix, as the warp and a peacock coloured Ultimate 2-ply alpaca yarn as the weft.  The coloured stripes along the length of the scarf and the chevron pattern across the scarf results in a smart looking, soft feeling, item. A cool colour to enhance your summer outfit being 1640mm x 215mm and weighing 107g.

Handwoven scarves using Bendigo Woollen Mills sock yarn

Bendigo Woollen Mills sock yarn is made from 70% wool and 30% nylon.  They come in a range of different multicolours.  I have hand-woven two of these yarns using an identical pattern but with different yarns in the wefts.
In the first I have used Pastel Multi, shade 522, as the warp and a hand-dyed multi-coloured silk yarn as the weft.  Unfortunately the silk yarn ran out early so I have a short scarf of 1130mm x 190mm and weighing 74g.  A lightweight, cool colour, scarf to add colour to your summer outfit.
In the second I used Purple Pink Multi, shade 521, as the warp and a white cotton yarn as the weft.  A brighter, darker, scarf toned down by the white weft, measuring 1730mm x 200mm and weighing 110g.
The pattern shows up more in the second scarf because of the single coloured weft as opposed to the multi-coloured weft in the first.
