Hand-woven scarf using Cleckheaton Wool Boule

I must be mad!  Four days of 40+C temperatures but I have hand-woven a wooly bulky scarf.  Using Cleckheaton Wool Boule #1893 crinkly wool I have now a lovely light blue/dark blue mottled coloured scarf with all those loopy bits giving a bulky fluffy feel.  Just right for those cold winter days.  The true colour of the scarf is reproduced best in the photos of the full scarf.  And for those interested, and for my records, the scarf is 1760mm x 210mm and weighs 166g

.
It should appear soon at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle depending on future sales.

More colourful Noro Mossa hand-woven scarves

If you like colour you will like my latest hand-woven scarves.  I have used Noro Mossa yarns as the weft on a bilberry coloured Australian alpaca warp.  The composite Noro yarns (52% wool, 16% viscose, 11% mohair, 11% silk and 10% polyamide) gives a fascinating textured yarn with the characteristic stripping (or banding) for which Noro are renowned.  Interestingly the wavy pattern is slightly different on both sides, one dominated by the weft, and the other by the warp.  The first scarf uses Noro Mossa #8 and is 1700mm x 205mm and weighs 142g whilst the second one uses Noro Mossa #6 and is 1840mm x 205mm and weighs 149g.

Mid-grey Tailored Strands alpaca hand-woven scarf

After a run of many colourful scarves I have hand-woven one solid colour mid-grey scarf using Tailored Strands 4-ply alpaca yarns.  A smart looking, yet soft and warm feeling, scarf for the man in your life, or you might like it yourself.  Being 1670mm x 215mm and weighing 137g it is not too bulky to wear inside your winter cloak.

See it soon at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle.
