Not a Hobbit's cloak!

Earlier this year I showed a length of fabric which I had woven in a mosaic pattern using three different coloured Noro Silk Garden yarns.

This fabric has now been fashioned into an amazing garment by Hiroko.  What a spectacular cloak to wear on cold winter days.

For those interested, it will feature on my stall at Perth Upmarket on Sunday 23 June at UWA unless snapped up earlier by an impatient wearer.

Hand-woven silver coloured alpaca scarf

Winter is approaching so how about a smart soft and warm scarf for your man, unless you think it would go better with your own black winter coat. Hand-woven in a silver coloured Tailored Strands 4-ply Australian Alpaca yarn the scarf is 1880mm x 230mm and weighs 158g.  The plaited twill pattern adds an elegance to any occassion at which you choose to wear this formally looking scarf.

It will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on Sunday 23 June, unless previously sent to be added to my display of scarves at Shop Handmade in Canberra.

Tailored Strands LIchen coloured alpaca scarf

Alpaca or cashmere, which is the best yarn?  Both are  soft and luxurious so I weave both yarns.
Using a Tailored Strands 100% Australian Alpaca 4-ply yarn coloured Lichen, I have hand-woven this cool looking, but warm feeling, soft touching long elegant scarf in a bold pattern suitable  for both winter and spring wear.  The scarf is 1840mm x 225mm and weighs 163g.

The scarf will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on 23 June unless previously sent to be added to my display of scarves in Shop Handmade in Canberra.

Sun orchid hand-dyed cashmere scarf

Now, what do you think of this luxurious and elegant cashmere scarf?  Long, yet lightweight, in a 2-ply cashmere yarn hand-dyed sun orchid (a colour in the Landscape range of wool dyes) and hand-woven in an interesting pattern.  Lovely to look at, and soft to the touch.  The scarf is 1740mm x 220mm and weighs 82g.

It will be on my stall at the Perth Upmarket on Sunday 23 June, unless previously sent to add to my display of scarves at Shop Handmade in Canberra.

Hand-woven green cashmere scarf

How time flies.  Way back on 4 October 2012 I showed on my blog six hanks of cashmere yarn which I had just hand-dyed.  I have just got around to weaving the first ones!
To start with I have taken the yarn dyed Daintree (a colour in the Landscape dye range) and woven a scarf in the same pattern as my previous scarf.  The scarf is long, but lightweight, being 1820mm x 220mm and weighing only 83g.  Being woven in a top quality cashmere yarn the scarf is extremely soft and delicate, being in a 2-ply yarn.  An interesting feature of the scarf are the occassional darker threads where the hand-dyeing was not quite even.

Hand-woven scarf using Tailored Strands Australian Alpaca

This time I have hand-woven a scarf using a Tailored Strands Australian Alpaca yarn coloured Seachange.  The scarf is 1870mm x 245mm and weighs 165g.  It is a lovely colour, and the scarf is very soft to the touch.

Black and white marshmellow scarf

And now for something different.  I have hand-woven a black and white marshmellow yarn which I purchased at the Isle of Wight Agriculture Show last June whilst on my European holiday.  It is 100% polyester and I have used a light-grey cotton yarn as the warp.  The finished scarf is 1460mm x 230mm and weighs 235g.  It is a short bulky scarf and soft to the touch.

More handwoven natural coloured white alpaca scarves

To build up my stock of Alpaca scarves I have woven two more in the natural coloured white alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca Stud.  Both are in the same pattern, one being 1750mm x 210mm and weighs 171g, and the other is 1780mm x 210mm and weighs 168g.

Natural coloured white alpaca scarves

After a run of colourful scarves I  have now hand-woven two in a natural coloured white alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca Stud.   I have used the same pattern for both, the first being 1790mm x 210mm and weighs 149g, whilst the second is 1870mm x 210mm and weighs 155g.  There is a difference in the pattern on the two sides of the scarves.

Perth Upmarket March event

The latest Perth Upmarket was held yesterday, Sunday, at the UWA.  I had a stall at the event on which we stocked hand-woven scarves from Vectis Ori, garments from hand-woven fabric from Oz Hiroko and needle felted animals made by Oz Hiroko.  Would you believe, but the needle felted animals were the most popular item on our stall and their display was very eyecatching for the passing public.
The next Perth Upmarket is scheduled for Sunday 23 June.
